Orcas close to the shore

Jul 17, 2022

We were on our way to the produce market yesterday morning when we saw fins in the water near the shore. There was a pod of orcas breaching right close in. Seagulls everywhere so there must have been a lot of fish. Very exciting!

There were no plants at the market but we got some fruit (one day we will have our own citrus and tamarillos) and a big bag of green avocados . There were no croissants at the Hare Krishna bakery so we had to have almond croissants for breakfast, they were delicious.

It was quite cool by the time we went out for a walk. The cattle in the next door paddock are always convinced we might feed them whenever they see us.

A fleeting (flitting?) visit from kakas squawking in the totara tree was very special, no photos to date and they are so well camouflaged.
