A plague of pukekos

Aug 16, 2022

There are a host of pukekos nesting in the bush behind the hen house and I’m always surprised I don’t run over a few on the driveway.

This morning Simon got the gun out to scare them off the grass in front of the house as the llamas weren’t there yet. They looked puzzled when the gun went off a few times and didn’t even stop tearing up the grass. He thought he had got one and then they all flew away. They are ravaging the ducklings, every day there is one less, pukeko chick food.

On the bright aide we have managed to keep them out of the vege garden.
