Five black hens and a rooster arrive

Mar 14, 2022

At the weekend we went and picked up five black Orpington pullets and a young rooster. They are not named yet as their is no way of telling them apart.

Waiting to go

I am sure they hated the three hour car journey. It was difficult to get them out of the travel boxes as they were so scared.

And Lovage was a bit nervous of them. He walked away and didn’t want to look. The dogs were not interested.

Unlike Sunny who was so curious he tried to get and shut the door on me so I couldn’t get out and had to climb over the fence. We now have a wire device for internal release.

While we were in Auckland we went to the Botanic Gardens, so inspiring, so many plants I want to grow.
