Shearing time

Nov 20, 2021

It was a mammoth task getting ready to shear. we had to ensure that we could get 19 llamas into the corral on the driveway without any escaping or getting into the garden or either of the orchards. A lot of planning and temporary fencing was required. Clover still managed to leap over the gate and run away.

Persuading them to walk along the driveway to the corral without nibbling garden plants on the way or detouring was certainly a herding challenge. We made it!

It’s a bit crowded in here

We even managed to get most of them haltered before the shearer arrived.

The onlookers

The cows in the next door paddock were fascinated by the whole process. And the llamas had something to look at.

No photos of shearing as we were too busy. It was extremely full on and we were pretty exhausted and bruised afterwards.

Happy llamas homeward bound

There was no trouble getting them back to their paddock although Lily did manage to prune a rose on the way.
